Currently the managing editor of Money, I was previously the editor-in-chief at architecture and interiors platform, Houzz. Prior to that I was the chief sub editor and travel editor at Australian House & Garden magazine. I have 25+ years’ experience in print and digital publishing and am the author of Mantras & Misdemeanours, a memoir about living in the Himalayan village that is home to the 14th Dalai Lama.
As a child living in New Zealand, I had a dream that I was about to board a plane when something happened... and I had to turn away from my adventure and go home. That sense of being thwarted played a role in my desire to become a writer; to experience new places and understand different cultures. I began my career at The Australian newspaper, then lived in India while writing Mantras & Misdemeanours (2005, Allen & Unwin), tried New Zealand again, then finally settled in Sydney. I have written for various newspapers, magazines, and publishers (see below). At Australian House & Garden I edited the travel section and led the sub-editing team. I am currently the Australia/NZ editor-in-chief at Houzz, an SaaS business and the world's largest online platform for architecture and interiors.
