Currently the Australia New Zealand editor at Houzz, I also spent eight years as the chief sub editor and travel editor at Australian House & Garden magazine. I have 17 years’ experience in magazine publishing and newspapers and am the author of Mantras & Misdemeanours, a memoir about living in the Himalayan village that is home to the Dalai Lama.
As a child living in New Zealand, I had a dream that I was about to board a plane when something happened... and I had to turn away from my adventure and go home. That played a role in my desire to become a writer; to experience new places and understand different cultures. I began my career at The Australian newspaper, then lived in India while writing Mantras & Misdemeanours (2005, Allen & Unwin), tried New Zealand again, then finally settled in Australia. I have written for various newspapers, magazines, and publishers (see below). At Australian House & Garden I edited an engaging travel section and was part of the inspiring team that produces this high-selling monthly homes title. In a few days (deep breath) I begin at Houzz, the world's largest online platform for home decoration and renovation.
